BIOGRAPHY

Maurice Heesen is a Dutch photographer and director of photography based in Amsterdam. Trained in Graphic Design, he started his career as an art director in advertising, where he learned how to translate brand values into powerful visual stories. That foundation still defines his work today: concept-driven, emotionally engaging, and always aligned with commercial goals.
After leaving the agency world, Maurice spent six years traveling the globe, pursuing ventures from backpack design in Nepal to importing Christmas goods in Germany. During those travels he picked up a camera—an impulse that grew into a lifelong career in visual storytelling.
Over the past two decades he has built an award-winning body of work recognized by the International Photography Awards (New York), Colour Awards (Los Angeles), Prix de la Photographie Paris, and others. His clients include Emirates Airlines, Canon, Vodafone, Volvo, Deutsche Bank, Heineken, UEFA, T-Mobile, Adnoc, and Nike.
Maurice works across photography and film, bringing the same precision, rhythm, and collaborative mindset to both stills and moving image. His style balances structure with spontaneity, concept with intuition. Whether on a large-scale commercial set or an intimate portrait session, he creates imagery that feels effortless, authentic, and unmistakably on brand.
